  • Harvest Festival

    Fri 08 Oct 2021

Today we had our special Harvest day in school. The children have been busy learning all about the Harvest Festival and we collected food for the Andover Food Bank. What a lot of food you have all managed to donate! It will now be collected by the Food Bank who would like to pass on their thanks to the whole Portway community. Thank you from us as well all for your generosity - your donations will go a long way towards supporting families in financial difficulty across Andover.

  • TVBC Christmas Tree Festival

    Wed 16 Dec 2020

The children at Portway worked really hard on their beautiful Christmas trees as part of the council's Christmas Tree Festival. A local artist is putting together pictures and videos of each school's creations and this will be released soon. We thought you might like to see our children's fantastic work!

Year R worked very carefully threading beads onto pipecleaners to make hanging decorations shaped like wreaths, stars and candy canes.

Year 1 made beautiful snowmen using different materials for their hats and scarves.

Year 2 used miniature wooden spoons and doilies to create angels that look as if they are flying across a starlit sky.

The children had so much fun making their trees and we are delighted to be taking part in a local project to get people in the festive spirit! As soon as the final video is released we will send out the link so you can see all of the contributions.

  • World Down Syndrome Day 2019

    Fri 22 Mar 2019

    Happy World Down Syndrome Day!

Today our school was brightened up by lots of colourful socks to help raise money for Andover Twenty1! We learned about Down Syndrome in assembly and celebrated difference together.

The idea of ‘Lots of Socks’ is that chromosomes look like socks under the microscope, and people with Down Syndrome have an extra chromosome.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and made a donation!

  • Air Ambulance Day

    Fri 04 May 2018

On Friday 20th April we joined with other schools in Andover to raise awareness of the amazing work the Hampshire and Isle of Wight carry out.  The children wore clothes with yellow and green on them and donated a £1 to benefit the charity.  The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance website was very informative and we were able to find out lots of interesting facts about the helicopters and the life-saving work the team do every day and night.

  • Amazing Support for the NSPCC

    Wed 29 Nov 2017

We welcomed Emma and Buddy from the NSPCC to school to talk to the children about the NSPCC Speak Out, Stay Safe Programme.  Emma delivered a child-friendly, interactive assembly about how the children can keep themselves safe from harm and how to get help if they have any worries.

We chose to support the NSPCC's work through a sponsored dance at school.  Emma was overwhelmed by the generosity of our friends and families and in total we have raised £2974.90.  On behalf of the NSPCC, we would like to say a very big THANK YOU.
